The Way of Russian Black Metal

Draugr (singular) or Draugar (plural) is an Icelandic word for a living dead having some features common to wraiths who is haunting back from time to time afterlife to accomplish what he or she could not complete during his or her lifetime. An obsessive apparition of various shapes. Dead thoughts. Stillborn dreams. The Sun... shadow... hunger... winter... the End and the Beginning. The eturnal return.

DRAUGGARD is a Russian-Austrian black metal trinity with numerous shows done in the lands of Europe, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. Formed in 2003 in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod, the band has been patiently progressing towards its unique style that is an inadvertent, almost spontaneous, yet balanced blend of various genres of metal with a considerable portion of Black Metal music in the main, both lyrically and musically. The metaphoric lyrics of DRAUGGARD, based on old Norse myths, philosophy and labyrinths of human mind, leaves enough space to be widely interpreted in many subjective ways.

DRAUGGARD took part in WACKEN ROAD SHOW in Kiev and Moscow sharing stage with OVERKILL, ENSLAVED, SAMAEL and TRISTANIA, opened for such bands as MARDUK, ROTTING CHRIST, RAGNAROK, BELPHEGOR and toured with DIABOLICAL (Sweden), HELLSAW (Austria), CONTRADICTION (Germany) and NECRONOMICON (Germany) among others. In March 2013, DRAUGGARD release their first full-length album “Da Nobis Tenebras” with Tomasz “Nefastus” Janiszewski (BELPHEGOR, DEBAUCHERY, LYFTHRASYR etc.) on drums. Following a line-up change, DRAUGGARD embark on a co-headlining tour in Russia with DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT. In 2016, DRAUGGARD sign to Unexploded Records and release their second full-length album titled "WyrdWeorc" that goes further a progressive way. Since 2013, DRAUGGARD tour Europe every year doing mostly headlining and co-headlining club shows as well as some festivals (Meltdown Festival 2016, Barther Metal Open Air 2017). In 2018, DRAUGGARD tour Europe, Russia and Brazil in support of their third full-length album called "Immer Werden".
