About this concert
The more one knows about folk singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie, the more inspiring she becomes. Since her groundbreaking debut, It’s My Way!, in 1964, the Cree artist has released more than twenty albums and—among other accolades—received the only Academy Award ever to be won by an Indigenous performer. She also survived childhood trauma, domestic violence and blacklistings from two US presidents while continuing to fiercely campaign for justice with decades-long activism. Author Andrea Warner spent countless hours with Sainte-Marie to produce an official biography already hailed as “crucial and compelling” (Tanya Tagaq) and a “captivating story” (Naomi Klein). A conversation between these two women will remind us of the power of art and humanity. Get your tickets while you can for this electric close to the Festival.
