About this concert
The Folk Music Society of Huntington's Hard Luck Cafe Series Presents: The Kennedys, 7:30pm, Oct 18, 2018. Tickets for this event are available at the Cinema Arts Centre on the day of the performance. Prices are $15 for FMSH and Cinema Arts Centre Members / $20 for Nonmembers. There are no advance tickets for this event. Folk Music Society of Huntington’s Hard Luck Café series @ the Cinema Arts Centre (423 Park Ave., Huntington) features the popular folk-rock and Americana duo The Kennedys. At well over a million miles of roadwork, including two stints as members of Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra, Pete and Maura Kennedy show no signs of slowing down either on the road or in the creative realm. Life on the road and time spent in the creative ecosystem of New York’s East Village have informed their songwriting over the course of 14 duo albums and half a dozen side projects, and "Safe Until Tomorrow" its May 2018 release, is true to that tradition. What sets the album apart is the inclusion of several anthemic, rocking songs of social consciousness that convey a strong message best summed up in one of the song titles: “Be Silent No More.” The 8:30 p.m. concert is preceded by an open mic at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20 ($15 for Cinema or FMSH members) at the box office. http://fmsh.org/events/event/the-kennedys-4/

Hello fello Music Fans We drove from Savannah GA to see the Kennedys in person for the first time We went with daughters family, and brothers family to a small venue-Live at Teds Maura and Pete Kennedy were beyond all expextaions. Pete is the most amazing guitarist/ musician I have ever witnessed in person. Maura, song writer, guitar player/singer is better in person than even her videos. Their original music is exceptional. The cover songs wonderfully done! After a susbstanial career- their newest music album is one of their best. We will travel to see them again whenever reasonable. Maura and Pete Thank you for a wonderful evening Dr Robert Kulp and family Savannah, GA

The Kennedys Biography

“I arrived at The Kennedys show in the foulest of moods….Two hours later, I didn’t want to be anywhere else….I could not have found a better antidote.” - Jim Daniels, Elmore Magazine, November 2016

In a career that now spans two decades, New York duo Maura and Pete Kennedy have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that drew the attention of McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith. The duo co-produced Nanci’s latest CD, and are currently touring the US and the British Isles with the Texas songstress.
