Sat, Sep 22 @ 7:00PM Zorn Brew Works (Microbrewery & Tap Room), 605 E 9th St, Michigan City, Indiana Join Jim St. James & Zkott Jordans, the Jordans and James duo at Zorn Brew Works of Michigan City, Indiana! Show starts at 7 pm till 10 pm. About Zorn: The legacy began back in 1871, when Bavarian immigrant Philip Zorn Jr —the son of a signature brewer—migrated to Michigan City to start his own microbrew venture. After managing Busch & Brandt Brewery in Chicago for over 20 years, he was determined to create a thriving establishment of his own…and settled at the corner of 9th and York Streets. Here, the P. H. Zorn Brewing Company was rumored to have used a spring-fed well to produce up to 15,000 barrels of fresh beer a year, including iconic brands such as Pilsenzorn, Grain State and Golden Grain. Even during Prohibition, the Zorn name survived by using the facility to make soda pop. Eventually, Zorn Brewing Company changed its name to Dunes Brewery and was passed down to Philip’s son, Ron, before closing its doors in 1938. Today, we have brought that brewing tradition back to life in Michigan City. We intend to revitalize a cherished piece of history and introduced a new series of exceptional craft beers to rival any of the past. We invite you to experience a new sense of excitement to the Elston Grove area, and taste our brews in a warm, inviting, comfortable, and fun new setting. Jim St. James is an American songwriter, singer and guitarist born in Gary, Indiana.
He’s appeared at the prestigious Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Festival along the gulf coast 21 years total with additional appearances at various festivals and songwriter gatherings around the United States. St. James charted on the Roots Music Report charts twice in his career, once at #1 for his song ‘Caroline’ which remained there for two weeks. An original composition about the life of aviatrix Amelia Earhart was featured on the official website of the famous pilot for several years. His songs have been included in Broadway musical scores as well as having been recorded by up and coming Nashville hopefuls on their debut releases. In 2017 his song ‘Throw that Needle Down’ (based on the opioid crisis) received a Los Angeles industry award for best Americana video of September 2017. St. James is a member of the Americana Music Association and is a BMI writer with an extensive catalog in the folk, blues, and Americana genres. His strong, clear vocals are admired by many, as are his various unorthodox guitar playing styles. Performing alongside Jim is Dean Rouch on fiddle and Frank Tunk on keyboards.
