During the early 2000s, the number of indie electronic artists grew exponentially, as home recording and software synthesizers (or softsynths) became common. A few exceptions aside, these artists released their music on independent labels, such as Warp (Broadcast), Morr Music (Lali Puna, Múm), Sub Pop (the Postal Service, Dntel), and Ghostly International (Skeletons, School of Seven Bells).
