Heather Taylor Biography
“Refined enough to be beautiful, yet kept raw to remain believable. ”- Frank De Blase, City Newspaper
Born into a musical family, multi-instrumentalist and visual artist Heather Taylor is creative to her core. Classically trained in flute, the now Asheville, NC native embraces the craggy soul of Appalachian folk music. Accompanied by her octave mandolin, Taylor draws elements of blues, americana, roots and rock into her songwriting.
After graduating from The Crane School of Music, Taylor’s musical path appeared to unravel. To remedy her indecisive future, she traveled to Ireland where she found an irish flute in a Dublin music shop. In a sweep of synchronicity, Taylor found herself playing flute in venues across Ireland and Scotland. Upon returning to the States with her musical fire reignited, Taylor experimented with new forms of musical expression; she began singing, playing mandolin and writing songs- ultimately becoming an Americana force in her hometown of Rochester, NY.
Shortly after moving to Asheville, Taylor won the Brown Bag Songwriting Competition and is now an emerging singer-songwriter in the Western North Carolina music scene. Her most recent record Undercurrents was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording Studio and will be released in August of 2018.
Sean Jerome is the featured artist on Heather Taylor's upcoming album release, Undercurrents and is the featured other half in Heather's shows.
Sean, native to upstate NY and now residing in Asheville, NC, started his musical career path at the Eastman School of Music in Opera performance. After attending the Moore School of Music at the University of Houston, he performed with the Houston Grand Opera for three seasons.
Veering away from the classical world, he discovered a passion for slide guitar in 2015. His Asheville debut was at the Asheville Music Hall in 2017 playing with Heather, where they won first place at the Brown Bag Singer/Songwriter Competition.
Sean's most prominent influences are Freddy King, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks.
