Kent Fauss MUSIC Biography
Born and bred in OKC, Kent Fauss learned his first guitar chords at age 8 and was introduced to "Texas Country" (before it was even a term) at age 10 when he saw Ray Wylie Hubbard and 2 others play in a coffee shop in Red River, NM. As a teenager, he developed a lifelong passion for Bluegrass, true Classic Country, and the evolving Austin/Outlaw sound of Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P Nunn, Guy Clark and Waylon Jennings.
His primary career as a legal investigator involved almost constant travel throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas and led to a deeper connection with the rural culture and music of the region. In his sparetime, he played traditional country & bluegrass as a solo performer in small clubs around OKC. But he was "born again" when he began a close acquaintance with a young Pat Green on a Texas hunting trip just as Pat was releasing his 1st LP and the Red Dirt Scene was also evolving in Oklahoma. His solo performances began reflecting his passion for this new roots-based sound, and he soon became the regular opening act for Pat's OKC-area shows.
He continued occasional performances until he was able to “quit his day job “ and fully focus on his musical career while spending a few years in the Ft. Worth area, where he released his debut acoustic EP. After returning to OKC in 2014, he further developed his songwriting and live performances and recorded the self-produced, full-band EP "Guns & Guitars," with the title track also describing his story.
