Beat Market Biography
Beat Market are a Canadian electronic music duo from Montreal consisting of Louis-Joseph Cliche and Maxime Bellavance. The two members originally started out as schoolmates studying music together at a university in the city. The two bonded quickly and, after experimenting with different styles of electronic music, the band came on to the scene with their debut album Red Magic, released on their own label.
Stylistically, the band mixes together a variety of genres ranging from house to dance music and electronica. The band has also become known for their elaborate concert performances featuring futuristic outfits and lights. The duo were quick to gain critical acclaim and popular success in Canada following shows at multiple festivals including Piknik Electronique, MEG Montreal, Electrofest and Winterlude. After being nominated for ‘Best Electronic Album of the Year’ at ADISQ in 2013 the band has decided to launch a new version of Red Magic in 2014. The new release will feature real drum beats to closer resemble their famed live sets and will showcase a new mix from producer French Fox as well as new mastering by the legendary Mike Marsh from the Exchange Studio in London (Daft Punk, Royskopp, Justice, Chemical Brothers, Vitalic, etc.)
