Shea Freedom Biography

"In what lead singer and guitarist Shea Freedom is calling “folk-hop,”... Freedom layers fast-paced rhymes and sung choruses over a folky base of acoustic instrumentation." ~Aspen Times

"Shea Freedom is a rising singer-songwriter with a voice like an angel and lyrics that sing of equality and freedom. Shea’s new album “Stand Together Now” is nothing short of magnificent as it is filled with soft vocals that echo emotion and an acoustic guitar that mirrors the rhythm of his love-filled heart. It was a privilege to interview this talented artist that stands up for everything he believes in." ~ Ryan Cassata writer for Strange Fire Magazine

In the songs he writes, during keynote speeches or hosting workshops across the nation you can find Freedom advocating for foster youth, human rights and environmental issues that affect us all. Born in Los Angeles Freedom was raised in California’s foster care system where he was subject to 28 different placements. Like 68% of foster youth, Freedom emancipated into homelessness.Having inherited his mothers guitar when she passed away Freedom turned to music as a way to transmute the pain and all he'd endured early in life.
