Austin Jones and the Bootheel Boys Biography
Austin Jones and The Bootheel boys are an Americana band based in Columbia, Missouri. Their unique blend of roots, Delta, Texas, and Chicago blues distills into a high energy blend of Americana. Each one of the Bootheel Boys brings their personal musical history to enrich the American stories told by Austin Jones’ lyrics.
Austin Jones, raised in St. Louis, has been a songsmith since the age of 14. He began his writing career as a freshman in high school, taking opportunities to perform at various venues around the city. His original intent to was draw inspiration from Bebop era jazz musicians by booking different members to make up the Bootheel Boys, doing this gave the music a fresh feel at every gig.
While the lineup of the Bootheel Boys has varied over time, the current lead guitar and bass players met for the first time in 2014 on the bandstand. Caleb Alexander and Alex Rideout instantly connected and provided Austin a backdrop to his stories that he had been writing for years. Jacob Somerscales first sat in with the band in early 2016. The best way to describe that instance was like a long lost brother coming home. This is the first permanent Bootheel Boys line, and they provide a canvas in which Austin can tell the stories that he has always wanted to.
Currently the house band at Columbia’s Broadway Brewery, where they play the last Thursday of every month, Austin Jones and The Bootheel Boys are currently preparing to record their debut record, "Midwestern Review" Keep up to date with the band on their Facebook page, as well as on Twitter at @AJandtheBhB.
