Rod’s music has been called “Bob Seger Meets Eric Clapton at Muddy Waters’ House”. But, those who try to pigeon-hole his music will be left scratching their heads. Always a blues rocker at heart, his music also has shades of soul, Motown, gospel and roots influences.
2018 Global Music Awards Silver Medal Winner for the album Delta Time.
2018 Josie Music Award Winner for Jazz/Blues Group of the Year! They were also nominated for the coveted 2018 "Entertainer of theYear" award for the band and also for Lightnin Rod as an individual. He was also nominated for 2018 Josie Music Awards for Male Artist of the Year in the Jazz/Blues/Soul Category, Song of the Year, "When I Loved You" in the Jazz/Blues Category, Album of the Year, "Delta Time", in Jazz/Bues Category.
Gold Artist Award, & Grinde Award Winner. He also has had two #1 Mp3 chart toppers in two different genres.
In September of 2017 five songs from the latest album, “Delta Time”, charted in three different genres and “When I Loved You”, was the #1 downloaded song of the month for country radio.
He has shared the stage with members of the Allman Brothers, Bob Seger, Buddy Guy, The Steve Miller Band, Cher, Stevie Nicks, Steppenwolf, Chuck Berry, Robert Cray, The Temptations & Four Tops just to name a few.
In 2004, with the release of “All-American Blues”, radio stations around the world were playing Rod’s music. “Dreamful of Blues”, became a #1 MP3 song in the general blues category.
Rod’s 2014 album, “Guilty of The Blues”, was released to critical acclaim. Eight of the album’s thirteen songs charted on various blues & rock album charts. He has had great reviews from “Blues Matters”, “Blues Blast Magazine”, “The Sound Guardian”, “Rootstime”, “LaHora Del Blues” and other fine publications.
The Thunderbolts are a rare commodity of true musicianship lacking in today’s music scene.
