About this concert
BLK OWL presents FIRST FRIDAYS at Hard Rock Hotel SAN DIEGO 21+ Special Guest: --------------------JAMES SUPERCAVE---------------------- FB: https://www.facebook.com/JamesSupercave/ "James Supercave combine pysch-pop aesthetics with a pop sensibility to create an artsy hybridized sound much like Alt-J or MGMTdz (Kevin Bronson, Buzzbands.LA). With their debut Album, Better Strange, earning multiple DzBest Albumdz awards, sold out shows on both coasts, and opening slots for some of the nationǯs biggest artists, James Supercave have earned the respect and admiration of music fans and critics across the country. In 2014 they released their first single, DzBurndz, which claimed ǮTrack of the Dayǯ from LA tastemaker KCRW. The following year their debut EP, The Afternoon, sparked great praise and opened the door for James Supercave to play major festivals and tour across the west coast. In 2016, James Supercave followed their EP with their debut album, Better Strange. They then hit the road on a national tour, followed by headline slots at local festival staples, and a sold out co-headline west coast tour wrapping up 2017. Now Supercave are primed with fresh material and a new Single, DzSomething To Losedz, coming out April 13th, 2018." Local Heroes/Support: B3K (of Vokab Kompany) FB:https://www.facebook.com/B3KOfficial/ B3K is an M.C., poet, wordsmith and a biographer of his musical migration, scribed on surfaces and cascaded upon original music like shaping water over rocks. He is the founder and co-owner of the San Diego live hip-hop band, Vokab Kompany and goes by the alias Rob Hurt or Robbie Gallo. B3K is currently in the studio recording a solo album that’s rooted in hip hop, soul, jazz and electronic and will feature: Edamame, Lapa (Emancipator), Bajka, Bassline Drift and others. The focus for this album is an imperfect bio on his life notably titled, I Can B Anything: Bad Better Best. He has plans to tour the album and is currently working to create a live band to learn the catalog. His hip-hop history and love for soul, and rhythm and blues started young. His first record purchased was Michael Jakson’s “Thriller” (still has it). He quickly appreciated and absorbed all forms of music however, was drawn to the art of rhyming, and his family was supportive. B3K’s mom, grandma and aunts would by him any tapes he asked for and when he found out about the infamous, RapMasters Volumes of the 80’s where he discovered MC’s like: Fatboys, RUN D.M.C., Dana Dane, Rob Base, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince, African Bambaataa and more, he learned to the art of storytelling through rhyme and was hooked! Decades later, he has over 12 national, commercial, T.V. and movie syncs, has played all over the U.S. and into Canada and some Mexico w/ his band Vokab Kompany, has 6 full studio albums and 1 full live album which over all include features w/ The Grouch, Gift of Gab, Killer Priest (Wu Tang), The Polish Ambassador, Mitchy Slick, Random Rab, Lateef the Truthspeaker, J Boogie, DJ Vadim, Lincoln Parish (from Cage the Elephant), Stephan Jacobs, Crush Effect and dozens more.
