About this concert
John Tams described by Mojo as 'one of the ultimate British songwriters' has had a career spanning four decades in every medium. A member of the Albion Band and Home Service he is perhaps best known for his work at the National Theatre and as Rifleman Daniel Hagman in the Sharpe television series. He also worked as a music consultant on War Horse at the National Theatre. War Horse received six nominations for the Olivier Awards, including one for the Best Sound, for Tams and fellow team members Chris Shutt and Adrian Sutton.\nHe is a five times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.\nBarry Coope was part of the vocal folk trio, Coope, Boyes and Simpson. Formed around 1990, their sound is rich and often includes unusual vocal harmonies.\nTogether, Tams & Coope are an award-winning duo. Their voices sounded perfect: rich, powerful and full. The new songs are all classics - what a wonderful evening. What a lovely audience - such quiet for the music and such gusto in applause. An amazing night at the Borderline." (Barry Everitt, Director, Borderline Club)\n"So much passion and real talent." (Tony Engle, Topic Records); "A beautiful gig." (Andy Seward, Producer/Engineer)\nBe sure to book early as the 2017 gig was sold out over a month in advance.\nDoors open from 7.30 for an 8pm start.\nFor returns or to go on a waiting list email: memorialhall@swaledale.org
