Michelle Berting Brett Biography

Born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Michelle is a pop/jazz singer based in the U.S., most recognized for her star turn in the highly successful touring show called We’ve Only Just Begun: Carpenters Remembered (and its holiday equivalent, Merry Christmas Darling: Carpenters’ Christmas) which have played performing arts centers, theatres, and casino showrooms all over the U.S. since 2013 including SOLD OUT engagements in Las Vegas and Downey, California, the Carpenters’ hometown.

Michelle released her first album, We’ve Only Just Begun: Carpenters Remembered, in 2015, celebrating the music of the Carpenters. Michelle will release her second album, Jazz, Torch & Ancient Pop, an eclectic mix of her favorite songs, on November 3, 2023, with a concert on November 8 at Revival in Toronto.

Michelle studied opera and theatre on full scholarship at Dickinson State University in the U.S., is an award-winning graduate of Sheridan Music Theatre in Ontario, Canada, and was an invited participant in the 8th Annual International Cabaret Conference at Yale University.

Michelle began her career in Toronto, performing across Canada in musical theatre. She has traveled the world and the seven seas, performing as a concert vocalist and in her own cabaret shows. Performance highlights include singing for the Troops in Bosnia, opening for Bob Newhart and Little Richard, and singing with Ronnie Spector, lead singer of The Ronettes.

Michelle has worked in Toronto as a singing and acting instructor at George Brown Dance and as a guest instructor at Ryerson Theatre School and the Sheridan Music Theatre program. Michelle also adjudicates the Rising Star Competition at the Canadian National Exhibition each year when her schedule allows.

Michelle is co-owner with her husband, Mark Brett, of Trajectory Productions, based in the U.S. In addition to their own projects, they represent concert artists and enjoy consulting on other shows.
