Toast In The Machine -The Police Tribute Band Biography

Toast in the Machine and Friends are a 7 piece band that perform the very best of Sting and the Police, or in trio form, the music of The Police. The Police tribute band brings the true sound and energy of The Police to life. Formed by three Minneapolis musicians with years of experience in making amazing tribute shows work, the expanded to a 7 piece for theaters this is their newest and best show yet. From the exact guitar and amazing drums and bass parts to the soaring Sting vocals and precise background vocals.... these guys just nail it, adding in all the details to make it sound truly authentic, and crowds love this band!

Musician Bios:
Drummer/Percussionist Andy Deckard, received his Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While residing there he recorded and toured with several different bands across the U.S. and Europe, including two cd’s on SST Records with No Man (Mission of Burma guitarist Roger Miller), Out of Band Experience, Brain Ticket and Kings of Feedback. Arriving in Minneapolis in 1991 he quickly became engrained in the local music scene with bands such as Sam I Am, Bone Club, Jack Buzzards, SoulFood (Rykodisc), The Boca Ratons, RainTribe, Tea & Sympathy, the Congo Eels and the infamous Mammy Nuns – the Tuesday night house band for over 9 years at the original Turf Club in St. Paul. He’s recorded music for soundtracks, commercials, dance companies and tribute projects. Andy performed in the Great Theater production of the musical RENT in St. Cloud in 2009 plus the Cardinal Theater production of RENT in Minneapolis in 2010 as well as 43 performances of the Rocky Horror Picture Show with Don Shelby in 2012. To date Andy has been performing entire album tributes with the St Cloud-based folk rock group Collective Unconscious, brass band funky jazz with MPLS based BrassZilla and the Police tribute band Toast In The Machine and is also currently in the process of recording his 2nd solo project under the name Who Shot Sally.

TC (Todd) Ortberg is a guitarist/keyboard player/songwriter from the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. He has recorded multiple CD releases (as T.C. Ortberg) of original music and select covers incorporating his unique style of jazz and rock. Think of a mix of Steely Dan, Jeff Beck, Santana, John Mayer, Peter Frampton, Weather Report, MIles Davis, Dire Straights. His music is distributed by 61 distribution sites (iTunes, CDBaby, etc) and can be heard as part of the jazz selections on The Weather Channel and other Film/TV soundtracks.Todd also plays in the 11 piece event dance band PowerTap in Minneapolis.
A native of Dubuque,Iowa,, Todd played with Titan and The Repairmen in Iowa, and with The Chromatics in Dallas, Texas, before moving to Minneapolis and beginning a solo career.

Andy Schultz is the lead singer and founder of Toast In The Machine. He developed a fascination with music at an early age. Encouraged by his parents, he pursued studies on various instruments: guitar, bass, piano, trumpet. After high school, Andy focused on the guitar as his main creative outlet, studying at Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA. At Musician’s Institute he was exposed to a broad array of styles and techniques as well as the opportunity to play with world class musicians.
Andy has spent the last twenty plus years in the Twin Cites playing, touring, writing and recording as a member of several acclaimed groups such as the Rockefellers, the Beatifics, Ol’ Yeller, and Betty Drake. Andy has also done studio session work and shows with various other artists: Peter Hoffmann, Peachfuzz, Michael O’Neill, Tommy Flake, The Congo Eels Blues Band and Motel California: a tribute to the Eagles....the Andy formed Toast in The Machine!
