About this concert
What do ya get when you The Underhill Family Orchestra and Young Valley share a stage? A Southern Fried Rock n Roll affair that will keep your toes tapping and your face smilin the whole way through. The Underhill Family Orchestra www.WeAreUnderhill.com Listen: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6CLtrDyMbsjbKaOmIfqPvr?si=Ihfd8kU-QEaVweLOge5qMA The Underhill Family Orchestra, native to the Alabama delta, has been described as "outright anthemic" taking their compositions to idyllic places that make you want to "paint your face, forget your age, and kiss a stranger." “Their debut, Tell Me That You Love Me, covers a lot of ground with just 10 tracks, from the horn-heavy funk on “When the Trumpet Sounds,” the soulful call and response on 'Wooden Hymnal in C,' the delicate ballad 'On the Wind' through to the gothic/almost hard rock gospel of 'Oh Spirit, Bring Me Home.' The band’s refusal to stick to a specific genre template on this record just adds to their appeal. " -NeuFutur Mag “An electrifying soulful affair.” - Americana Music Association "Spinning on an axis of catchy, stomp-and-holler folk influenced by Southern rock and progressive pop, the band is full of call-and-response and five-part harmonies, playing like some combination of the Lone Bellow, Skinny Lister, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.” —Glide Young Valley www.youngvalleymusic.com Listen: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6S2tjpz41u6vINrIL8edp7?si=AWylBvCfT1SGs8HY6kslCg Jackson, Mississippi's Young Valley offers points of view from songwriters Zach Lovett, Dylan Lovett, and Spencer Thomas with a trading of styles from traditional country to southern-tinged rock 'n roll. With the addition of Kell Kellum and Ethan Frink, the 5-piece group lays out a catalogue of catchy melodies, harmonies, and plenty of guitar shred all packaged into well-crafted tunes. "We service the song" they said to Mississippi Today in a recent interview. "Wherever the song takes us, we need to go." This mantra has kept them honest in their approach, and just like their hard-to-look-away kind of stage show, you don't quite know what to expect next from Young Valley.

These guys are amazing, they know how to put on a show. Just a beautiful group of people. They need to do a nation wide tour, but with multiple stops in Livingston, Alabama. Love these guys.

Underhill Family Orchestra Biography

The Underhill Family Orchestra, native to the Alabama delta, has been described as "outright anthemic" taking their compositions to "idyllic places" that make you want to "paint your face, forget your age, and kiss a stranger." With "the bare knuckled nature" of their sound and their command of the "intricate, melancholy and densely literate" themes in the songs they create, they invoke a "sense of riot" with their arm-swingin, foot-stomping, Appalachia-inspired sound that makes effort to "infuse sheer pop catchiness into the rootsier, grittier elements" made up of sultry and soulful 4-part vocal arrangements and a unique take on the southern sound for which Alabama is known. They have recently been in the studio after their October ‘16 signing to Skate Mountain Records, and will be hitting the road to promote their debut major record release set to drop on May 4, 2018.
