About this concert
Adam Traum and Colin Gilmore, two scions of folk/country legends are continuing their family legacy. They are crafting their own sound while drawing on the music they grew up with. Although Gilmore's music has echoes of his father, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, he has his own perspective on music that is unique to him. Growing up in Woodstock, Adam Traum's experience around the music of Dylan and the Band and the elder Traum's formidable blues chops, gave him inspiration as a guitar player and a songwriter. Sharing the bill with Traum and Gilmore will be the Kenney's (Pete and Maura) who have built a career that now spans two decades. The New York duo traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, and a Byrds-inspired jangle that drew the attention of McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith.

Adam Traum Biography

Adam Traum is an artist who has a deep reverence for music which comes through in his live show. He was raised Woodstock, N.Y., in a musical family, which shaped his musical world view. As a young musician he always wanted to be in the thick of a jam session or wanted to be right next to the stage. His father Happy Traum, a luminary of the Greenwich Village folk scene, turned Adam on to blues, bluegrass and folk styles while his irreverent teenaged spirit reveled in blues-driven rock. In his early twenties Adam got bit by the Americana bug and there was no turning back. His influences include Ry Cooder, Taj Mahal, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Mississippi John Hurt and Rev. Gary Davis to name a few. He both performs and teaches throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

He has four instructional guitar lessons and one forthcoming mandolin lesson on Homespun Music Instruction. His CD "Meant To Be" (2006) celebrates his diversity highlighting his songwriting, which incorporates story-driven songs, humor and catchy guitar riffs. Traum's newest release "Just Like Home" (2012), is an all acoustic collection of songs that have an intimate feel and pays tribute to his musical heritage. A new solo CD is in the works with mostly original music as well as a few traditional songs.
