A music devotee from the time he was a teenager, Ankit Kocher is a self-taught Producer/DJ from India, popularly known as Ankytrixx in the electronic dance music circuit. He had his early influences, reflect music tastes from listening to renowned performers such as John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold, Nick Warren and more . Ankytrixx’s first steps as a DJ saw him rise in the club scene with gigs and residencies at some of the hottest venues of Kolkata, Nepal and then his subsequent move to Mumbai propelled him to the big league with regular shows across India, even warming up for legends such as John Digweed, Dubfire, Guy J, Henry Saiz and hosted and lent support to Hernan Cattaneo in 2017, all of it has stamped his musical authority over audiences looking for cutting edge dance music experience with over a 100 shows annually. His DJ sets have amassed a number of quantifiers over the years, though none have ever quite managed to define it. Keeping the crowd engaged in abstract exploration of electronic music, based upon the timbres of space and "non-representational" forms of sonic material. A proud recipient, he is fresh off winning the National Award for DJ OF THE YEAR 2017 at the recently concluded INCA (India Nightlife and Convention Awards) 2017 in Mumbai. VH1 MyFavAwards Best Electronic DJ (2012/2013) two years in succession and the title of – VH1 MYFav DJ Of The Year (2013) in India’s largest online people’s choice awards. Carefully crafting his sets on the classical foundation of turntables, CDJS and a mixer week after week turning each floor in to a raving hot box brought him international appeal and recognition with invites to play at underground clubs across Europe. He maintains an international schedule and tours extensively during summer, and one can find him at the best venues of Amsterdam, Ibiza, Berlin, and Barcelona. From Studio80 in Amsterdam, to KaterHolzig & Renate in Berlin, super club PACHA, Bora Bora, Sankeys in Ibiza, as a pioneering combination of performance and electronics. He is also a regular figure at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in Amsterdam and Mumbai by curating parties that are going down in the history books of dance as some of the best and must attend do’s. One of the busiest and most prolific DJ from Asia his first solo production landed him a veritable club hit titled - “No Kontrol” in 2013 finding its way on Freshin Records steered by French producer Da Fresh, with a remix from label boss himself, and then on to working with likeminded soul Spartaque owner of IAMTECHNO label, the imprint went on to release Ankytrixx’s next, Techno bomber – “May Day” hitting the charts in 2014 that got early support from heavy-weights Nicole Moudaber, Stefano Noforini and Spektre to name some. Shuttling between gigs and time in the studio for his upcoming productions, his unreleased track called – “Maxima” has already garnered international support with renowned DJs dropping it with fair regularity. As the most loved performer of the Indian scene his role continues to push boundaries of dance music and has gone on to become an influential architect of the country’s night time stories, by founding AFE in 2016 (Ankytrixx & Friends) the company takes on nightlife entertainment and concepts and dedicates it’s time not only to bring performers of the country to the spot-light, the company spear heads programming weekend solutions for several top notch venues, and also electronic music DJ/Producers from around the globe to feature in a non-stop all year tour calendar for the discerning club community present in this side of the world. A constant innovator and visionary , Ankytrixx has conceptualized - CTRL ALT DANCE festival which saw its debut in 2014 and there’s no looking back since, as India’s one and only homegrown event featuring more than 75 DJs last year, has only grown in stature and just concluded its third installment December of 2016. In recent news, Ankytrixx has emerged as a true international star of the performing arts, by joining a world class DJ lineup that includes artists such as Sven Vath, Stephan Bodzin at the Ark Cruise in Europe, one of the planet’s most epic electronic events at sea which was held earlier this year. He is currently on his first ever show at Slippers 99, in Tel Aviv Israel as headliner at the Lost & Found ADE Pre-party along-side Israel’s finest Chicola and Khen. Right after which one can find him making his way to top branded events at Amsterdam Zomerkantine at De Markkantine // Techno Tribe and Sugarfactory. Coming up in November 2017, we will also see him at Wonderflip (A Magical Circus) main stage action; India’s newest dance music extravaganza which he and his company (AFE) has helped curate. The festival is spread across three day and nights, in rustic Udaipur, with global heavyweights Eagles & Butterflies, Gaudi, Patrice Baumel and more in the lineup. Blazing a trail over the last 15 years, a larger than life character whose time and extent of ambition is indicative of making the music scene in India, help reach a degree of maturity and of togetherness, he is almost uniformly sunny and a live wire performer, Ankytrixx reaches for your heartstrings yet all the while aims to move your feet, we call him the original neon rave instigator!!
