About this concert
Celebrate the longest day of the year on the East Side with our 18th Annual Summer Soulstice Music Festival! Kick the day off with The Urban 108 at Summer Soulstice Music Festival - yoga with our friends from Urban OM at 10am. In addition to THREE STAGES of music, enjoy favorites like BMX Stunt Bikes, mini-golf from Nine Below, a climbing wall from Adventure Rock MKE, and roller skate dancing from Roll Train. Art-lovers can enjoy FIVE artists live-painting large panels of "Soul" that will hang this summer in Black Cat Alley. And for the kids, illustrator and professor (and Black Cat Alley artist) Tim Decker and his assistants will personally sketch an animal of choice for kids to paint and take with them... a little piece of Black Cat Alley for home. Shoppers can stroll through a WIDE variety of unique MIlwaukee makers ranging from beautiful art and wearables to Milwaukee-inspired candles and unique gifts. Curated in part by The Waxwing, this vendor village will be a festival of art all its own. Feeling hungry? We have over 15 food vendors including many East Side favorites. Plus, with beer from Miller Lite, Lakefront Brewery, and more... it's a well-rounded day of treats. Don't forget the piece de la resistance... the MUSIC! Each group has been hand-selected to showcase the best of Milwaukee's music scene. B-Free Biography

Flutist. Vocalist. Pianist. Songwriter. Producer. Music Curator. With influences ranging from Aaliyah to Jill Scott, she’s become the summation of a musical technician and the next R&B Chanteuse.

Born in Chicago, IL, and raised in Milwaukee, WI, she began singing and playing piano in her early years and has been writing and composing music since the age of 7. Majoring in music at the Milwaukee High School of The Arts, Lincoln University of PA & VanderCook College of Music, she has been trained in a multitude of genres including jazz and classical flute, voice, and piano.

In 2013, following the release of her debut project a year prior, a bout of pneumonia and throat infection left her unable to speak and sing for three months. Vocal cord surgery followed, & she couldn’t sing a single note for a year.

Her return project following rehabilitation was (sophomore album) “Ode 2 A Luv Affair LP'' in 2016. The O2LA was met with much acclaim; including being hailed by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as the “Number One Album of 2016” and by The Shepherd Express as an "immaculately constructed R&B record."
In the span of her career, B~Free has also shared stages with artists such as Slum Village, Dwele, BJ The Chicago Kid, Fantastic Negrito, and served as direct opening support for Janelle Monae. She continues to release new music, with her latest being the spring 2021 self-produced House single, “Hate 2 Luv” feat. Durand Bernarr, & the bright, summer 2021 bop, "This Could Be Us."
