Her voice was lovely though the acoustics in the balcony were not great; especially for the warm-up band, Riff Raff. It was difficult to make out the majority of the words. There were four of us and we were disappointed that she played mostly songs from her new album and only two of her hit/better known songs. She said when she started that she would play some of her newer songs and we expected she would transition into her better known songs but unfortunately, that did not happen. We would not have gone to the concert if we had known it was going to be almost all new material we were not familiar with.
You can’t say enough about the talent and professionalism of Derek & Susan. Awesome concert! TTB is such a hard working group. They put on a fantastic show. I really liked the way that they showcased the members of their band at certain times. I can see why these members have been with them for so long. They are treated like family. You could really see how happy Susan and Derek were for them when the crowd gave the ovations they did. I hope they’re back soon!
The Black Crowes were great playing songs from throughout there career. And the acoustic's in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre are wonderful...too bad the bar was closed by 9:30
Left the Jacob Collier concert feeling absolutely uplifted and inspired! 🎶✨ His musical genius truly knows no bounds. Every note was a journey, and the vibes were pure joy! Highly recommended.
Wooooooooow first time I saw one of his shows. Endlessly impressed and it was unlike any small venue show I’ve ever seen. He was constantly interacting with the audience. There were so many segments to the show and I am so happy I got to witness it. 12/10 recommend!!
What an amazing show they put on. My daughter was in absolute awe to get the chance to meet Lauren, such an amazing person to just talk to. Hopefully there will be a real "hometown" show somewhere in the future. We were so happy to get to meet our "Fellow Islander" !!!!!
She was Spectacular! She had the crowd in the palm of her hand. Every song she sang, the audience/crowd was singing every word with her including me (probably the oldest momma there)!!! lol Seriously though, whatta great voice and entertainer. The sky is the limit for Lauren!
Hope you come ‘home’ to Van Island & we can meet in person in Qualicum Beach!
Keep on doin’ what you’re doing!!! 💕
A Mesmerizing Symphony of Jazz
I recently had the pleasure of attending the highly anticipated Chris Botti concert, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight! From start to finish, Botti and his talented ensemble took the stage by storm, captivating the audience with their enchanting melodies and impeccable musicianship.
Botti's trumpet mastery is unrivaled, and witnessing his virtuosity in person was a true privilege. But Botti wasn't the only star of the show. His band members and guest artists, consisting of incredibly talented musicians, showcased their extraordinary skills throughout the concert. The chemistry among them was evident, as they seamlessly complemented Botti's trumpet solos with their own incredible solos and tight musical arrangements. It was a true feast for the ears.
The concert itself was expertly paced, with a perfect balance of energetic numbers and more introspective pieces. The arrangements were beautifully crafted, blending various genres and styles, and the band's improvisations added a sense of spontaneity and excitement to the performance.
Beyond the musical brilliance, Chris Botti's stage presence was captivating. He engaged with the audience, sharing stories and anecdotes that added a personal touch to the evening. His warm and charismatic demeanor made everyone feel connected and involved. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a Chris Botti concert, do not hesitate. It will be an enchanting and unforgettable experience that will leave you craving for more.
Nick was in fine form and Los Straight Jackets are just amazing as well. My only regret is that Nick wasn’t the headliner. Great show none the less!
Excellent show with finale of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" with songwriter Nick Lowe. Surprised Elvis didn’t mention that the original video for that song was filmed in Vancouver back in the ‘70s! Check out the video on YouTube with unmistakable scenes of the Attractions in Stanley Park with the totem poles and north shore mountains in background!
Good show. Lame encore.
Songs I wished he'd have done: Something More Than Free, Chaos and Clothes, Tupelo, Outfit, God is a Working Man, If It Takes a Lifetime, and God Damn Lonely Love.
Worst part of the show is having to stay seated the whole time.
It ain't a concert if people aren't up on their feet.
Really engaging with the audience and their music is so fun to listen to live. It's a lot more rock-like in person but they mix it with their electronics from the studio versions. My second time seeing them and I'd go again.
Bert was amazing and did not disappoint. I laughed the entire time. He even dealt with a 'heckler' in the crowd with grace and hilarity. I would looooove to buy some sort of ticket that allowed for backstage or meet and greet. His opening acts were class act as well.
The show focused on the music and the sound was quality, especially at floor level; enough bass to rattle your ribcage. The encore lasted another good half hour. Solid gig!
Joji sounds really good live! He sounds exactly like he does in his recorded songs. It was a really short concert though, probably around 40 mins total...the opening act was reallllyyyy good but I don’t know who it was. If anyone knows who opened for joji pls let me know :)
Best day ever. I love mat with all my heart. His performance and just everything was perfect. Meeting him to the venue. just thanks you. So much. Plz come to Calgary/Edmonton
It was so much fun. He interacted with the audience and made everyone feel special. The opening acts, lighting and sound were all very good as well.
One of the best shows I’ve seen recently. Plant’s voice is in fine form and his band is excellent. A fun, moving, eclectic show. Highly recommended if you get a chance to see it.
Concert was absolutely incredible. Loved every second of David Byrne. Did not enjoy the opening act at all. David Byrne and his band did a fantastic job. Was entertained during the entire David Byrne concert.
