UP IN SMOKE Festival 2026

The 2026 edition of UP IN SMOKE is a perfect example of everything this festival stands for – showcasing swiss headliners, legends, scene favorites and the hottest new bands! This year the three-day festival takes place from October 2nd to 4th and hosts three exclusive Switzerland shows from ZEAL & ARDOR, UFOMAMMUT and THE CRAZY WORLD OF ARTHUR BROWN!

UP IN SMOKE is the cult heavy music festival of Switzerland! The festival was founded in 2014 by Sound of Liberation in cooperation with the legendary rock venue Konzertfabrik z7. Since the first edition the 3-day event continues to draw thousands of heavy music fanatics from all over Europe to the iconic Konzertfabrik Z7 in Pratteln, just outside of Basel. Over the years UP In SMOKE was headlined by all sorts of gods from the heavy music pantheon such as ELECTRIC WIZARD, PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS, MELVINS, FU MANCHU, ORANGE GOBLINS, while being an early stepping stone to future scene greats like SLOMOSA, 1000MODS and many more on their first EU tours. With a perfectly balanced lineup each year, that highlights a mix of heavy music legends, new scene favorites, long running evergreens, local matadors and the hottest new bands, UP IN SMOKE grew into the absolute heavy music scene gathering of the region! From stoner, doom, sludge, desert rock, heavy blues, psychedelic, hard rock to metal the festival is a melting pot of the finest bands from the entire heavy music spectrum – so is the devoted crowd that makes way to Z7 each year! With an Open Air and an indoor stage, the festival combines the best of both worlds and is perfectly prepared for any weather.
