Lydia Low Biography
Lydia Low blends a folksy take on Rock and Roll with the demented swing of dark cabaret. Her oaky vocals carry delicately crafted lyrics that weave stories and confessions that revel in the excellence and fractures of the human condition.
Her childhood home constantly reverberated with classical music, and her nervous commutes were always accompanied by the most heartwrenching ballads musical theatre and animated films had to offer. The combination imprinted a deep love for melancholy, as well as a burning desire to create and perform. Upon following her roots back to Texas, her muses expanded to include growing struggles with nyctophobia along with coming to terms with the many facets of desire.
She nabbed a BA in Studio Art (Ceramics) at the University of North Texas, churned out a portfolio of vivid album art and poster commissions. She is also the lead singer of metal trio, In Spite of Madness. Between bands and her solo work, she has performed at festivals including Oaktopia, Heartland Pagan Festival, Fort Worth Pride, circulated on stations like KKFI 90.1 and 97.1 The Eagle, as well as nabbing nominations at the Fort Worth Music Awards 2018 and Denton Arts & Music 2019.
Working with Flint Creek Records, her sophomore EP, Undertow, is near completion. The sultry singer-songwriter's immediate plans are to get on the road, and storm stages in strange places with new faces.
