Since then, the show has expanded into a lively, two-hour weekly broadcast featuring interviews and live performances, plus the latest and greatest releases from all over the Indianapolis and regional music scenes. The Radio Hour has become a favorite of the people who create the music as well as those who listen to it. MP Cavalier and Scott Tolin hold court each Monday night at Fountain Square’s beautiful Grove Haus, helming a loose and fun radio show very much in the spirit of the classic free-form FM shows of the early 70’s, with a nod to the British pirate radio stations of the 60s. Rock is mixed with folk, punk, singer/songwriter, metal, electronica and just about everything else. It’s a one-stop shop for those interested in the local music scene.Each week, the show features a live performance from a local band, a top three event listing, and interviews with the scene’s artists, promoters, and prime movers. In October 2014, the show celebrated its one-year anniversary and received the high honor of appearing in Nuvo’s “Barfly” cartoon. Like all of the programming on Radio Free Indy, the Radio Hour has no sponsors and no advertisers. Free and independent – just like radio should be.
