Jo Dawne grew up as the listener, the younger sister of Johnny, a jazz musician who played in London orchestras, gigged in jazz bars, and had a band famous in Scotland before giving up commercial music to pursue the real thing.
Now she makes music as a digital diary, and occasionally as an act of love for strangers. Subterranean was written for Ukrainian youth dancing in subway shelters. Your Attention was the moment she found her MIDI voice and never looked back.
Her catalogue refuses to stay in one lane, cinematic electronica, tech house, world fusion, orchestral, because she decided the algorithm's opinion wasn't her problem.
Signal from Noise is her latest album. It's just the beginning.
