Al meer dan 20 jaar zingt en speelt Margot Merah Ierse en Schotse folknummers. In die muziek draait het om het vertellen van verhalen en dat is waar Margot van houdt. Die Keltische traditie klinkt door in haar eigen nummers. Met een stem die je hart verwarmt vertelt ze over het leven, klein en simpel, met oog voor detail én voor het grotere verhaal.
Margot speelt gitaar, bodhrán, mondharmonica en tenorukulele. Ze wordt begeleid door de Schotse multi-instrumentalist Alan McLachlan (banjo, gitaar, mandoline, zang). Samen spelen ze een mix van melancholische ballades, romantiek, jazzy swing en een vleugje country. Margot Merah doet met haar singer-songwriter liedjes soms denken aan het Ierse platteland terwijl je je andere keren in de New Yorkse folkscene uit de jaren 60 waant.

Telling stories is what the folk tradition is all about and it is what Margot loves to do. Tales about life, simple and small with an eye for detail as well as the bigger picture. Margot's music is comforting, hopeful and melancholic. Acoustic folk songs that at one time remind you of rural Ireland and other times transports you to the New York folk scene of the early sixties.
Margot is part of the female folkduo The Lasses and loves to sing and play at sessions.
