Tipa Tipo

Tipa Tipo is a tropical soft rock project led by multidisciplinary artists Adele Fournet and Felipe Wurst. Blending '70s soft rock and disco with Latin rhythms and art-pop aesthetics, the project pairs a retro production style with bilingual songwriting that explores philosophical, political, and feminist themes. Born out of Lima's experimental pop scene in the early 2010s and forged in the chaos and collaborative spirit of New York City, Tipa Tipo is anchored by Fournet and Wurst alongside an ever-expanding community of collaborators — including longtime drummer and creative partner Jordan Auber. Their latest record, Arquetipas - out October 2nd - brings together artists from across Latin America and the United States in an exploration of identity, transformation, and survival, with lush, groove-driven melodies. The band's previous releases have earned acclaim from Bandcamp Daily, Paste, and Perú's Rock Achorao, with KEXP praising their "intoxicating tropical yacht rock" and "spellbinding rhythms, infectious pop hooks and endless grooves," and radio support from WFUV and WNYC's New Sounds. They have performed at venues and festivals including Lincoln Center and SXSW, and opened for buzzy acts including Chuwi and Balún.
