About this concert
In 2024 Trichotomy celebrate 25 years of music making together. Originally formed as a university project by pianist Sean Foran and drummer John Parker, the group have become known as one Australia's most acclaimed contemporary jazz groups, with a string of albums and awards. They have performed around the world in the UK, across Europe, China, Japan, Canada, and collaborate with orchestras, dance companies, jazz, classical and pop artists.
In this performance they feature works from their extensive catalogue for an intimate audience.

Trichotomy Biography
Australian piano trio Trichotomy really need no introduction. Over the course of three compelling albums for Naim Jazz - Variations (2010), The Gentle War (2011), and Fact Finding Mission (2013), 2017’s KNOWN/UNKNOWN (Challenge) and collaborative releases with String Quartet – “Live With String Quartet (2018), and folk-jazz-blues troubadour Danny Widdicombe – “Between the Lines” (2019) they have carved out a reputation as one of the most exciting trios in contemporary jazz. Inspired by a diverse range of influences from Portico Quartet, Pat Metheny and John Zorn to Tord Gustavsen and Nils Petter Molvear, Trichotomy’s music combines a dense rhythmic focus with a refined melodic clarity. In 2021 they collaborated with percussionist Nozomi Omote for a suite of new work featuring vibraphone and marimba, released as multi-media packages.
Their new album ‘TO VANISH’ is released in 2023, and they tour the UK-Europe.
This is a group that continually redefines what is possible in contemporary jazz.
