Coming Up Threes

Coming Up Threes is a high-energy Celtic-influenced, pub band which formed in early 2012. Based in Portland, Oregon, but sprinkled around the Pacific Northwest, many of the band members honed their chops playing in the legendary Irish punk/world music band Amadan. The band features Bill Tollner on guitar and lead vocals; multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Bauer on penny whistle, banjo, bodhran, percussion and vocals; Naoyuki Ochiai on fiddle, accordion and vocals; Chad Marks-Fife on Fiddle, Mandolin and vocals, Charlie Norris on bass; David Fender on drums and Giuseppe Tambourini on auxiliary percussion and sass. Coming Up Threes plays much of the traditional Irish pub repertoire, filtered through rock and roll, Americana and country sensibilities to give many of these tunes a fresh, new sound. The music tactfully varies from melodic, orchestral instrumentals to stylized acapella arrangements, mixed with up-tempo, fist raising Irish pub tunes. As one fan wrote in her blog, " Coming Up Threes killed it. They played a set of Irish folk-inspired music, but with a modern flair." Bringing crowds to their feet…that’s what Coming Up Threes does best! In the band’s career, Coming Up Threes has gone from opening for Amadan at a sold-out Doug Fir Lounge on St. Patrick’s Day 2012, to headlining the annual Portland Irish Festival, the largest Irish festival on the west coast, on St. Patrick’s Day, 2013. In 2013, Bill and Jeremy represented the band with a performance on Good Day Oregon (http://www.youtube.com/v/8wt9iZR6otw) and Jeremy was featured in an interview with Celtic Music Promoters, 67 Music (http://67music.net/features/jeremy-bauer/). In addition, the band has performed at many of the Irish pubs in the Northwest, played now-legendary New Year’s Eve shows at Kells in 2012 and 2013, and has played many other bars, festivals and events throughout the Northwest.
