Forest Ray Biography
Seattle based folk n’ roll band, Forest Ray, has been described as “spaced-out, down to earth, Brit-pop gone country” that sounds like “the band covering Beatles songs no one knew existed”. Their songs regularly explore diverse instrumentation, which have become staples of the group's brand of rock n' roll. Through a consistent touring and recording schedule, they have become one of Seattle’s most known active bands. Their sixth studio album, Windfucker (Jebivjetar), was released in January 2024. They have since followed up with a US and Canada tour and a second tour of Europe promoting the LP and are now ending with a final 2024 tour for the record in the United States.
"The new album from the Seattle outfit is a solid blend of Americana, psych and indie-rock. Peter Sumic’s classic storytelling style is driven by a rich sonic tapestry of guitar, mandolin, banjo, pedal steel, harmonica and percussion, making Windfucker (jebivjetar) feel like a perfect companion for a long, dusty road trip." — KEXP Program Director, Chris Sanley
“If you want to put a fine enough point on it, Forest Ray’s often rootsy, very handmade sound could be dubbed Americana. But the Seattle band infuses that foundation with trips to the psych-rock well, and some classic pop-song construction. Lead singer/guitarist/principal songwriter Peter Sumic’s terrific, affecting tunes often sound like The Band covering Beatles songs no one knew existed.” - Tony Kay, Artist Home
