Amy Papiransky Biography

Since releasing her heartfelt debut album, “Read Me Write” in 2019, BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist Amy Papiransky’s career has gone from strength to strength.

A classically trained and infinitely talented multi-instrumentalist with folk roots, Singer/Songwriter Amy quickly caught the attention of BRIT Award winning Musician KT Tunstall. In 2021, with the support of Tunstall’s management team, Amy released singles “Dear Amy” – a sublime piano ballad - and the jazz-infused “Summertime Blues”, garnering praise from radio, press and industry professionals.

“A bit of Dolly and a bit of Carole King with the piano, and a real tie in with good country writing over her stunning Scottish accent!” – BRIT and Ivor Novello Award Winning Singer/Songwriter KT Tunstall

Originally from Keith in the North-East of Scotland, Amy has continued to hone her craft on the live music scene, playing several high-profile festivals across the UK - including HebCelt, Belladrum, Edinburgh Fringe and Cambridge Folk Festival, as well as headlining King Tut’s, Glasgow and PJ Molloys, Dundee. She has also supported fellow touring artists, including KT Tunstall, Jill Jackson, Blue Rose Code, Boo Hewerdine and Cammy Barnes.

Between juggling gigging and her day job as a Teacher, Glasgow-based Amy has found time to write and record her much-anticipated follow-up album, working alongside a stellar set of collaborators. Produced by Damien O’Kane (Kate Rusby), the album features a host of exciting guest appearances which will be announced soon.

A young woman with plenty to say, Amy is looking forward to sharing this collection of uplifting folk songs and effortless ballads which tell tales of love, loss, heartbreak, resilience, and strength.

"Amy’s deep understanding and passion for music shines out in her solo work, showcasing intelligent yet accessible pop mastery” - PRS for Music.

Amy’s new album is due for release in October 2024.
