Okay - a few things first. I really love their music and have seen them quite a few times in the past, starting when they were playing pretty small venues and followed them as the venues have gotten larger. One of my favourites was at the Barbican for the Koyaanisqatsi evening - with which the Outernet performance had some similarities) and one of the small events.
Their playing was, as always, entrancing and varied and just pretty plain wonderful. The accompanying graphic interpretation was pretty good too - just a shame that I ended up watching quite a bit of it on one of the (not very well colour balanced) monitors positioned on the columns. Being a standing only venue with a flat floor, unless you're over 6 foot, it's virtually impossible to get a decent view of the proceedings. True if you get there as doors open and get a position on the balcony - but then if you're solo ( as I was) you then can't get a drink/go to bathroom etc without losing your spot. Btw - the bar facilities are excellent (as are the toilets) and coped with the capacity crowd very well. Prices as you'd expect of central London venue.
Also if you're of a certain age (I'm 67) standing around for hours isn't great. Sadly - I ended up leaving early as there was Rail Replacement after the 2309 train (I live out near Cambridge) and I wanted to avoid that . . .
To summarise, GGP as great as ever, the visuals very good, the venue probably not my favourite, but then at my age maybe I should stick to seated venues!

GoGo Penguin Biography
GoGo Penguin have been internationally hailed as electrifying live performers, innovative soundtrack composers, and as a collective who channel electronic and club culture atmospheres alongside minimalist, jazz and rock influences to create music that pulses and flows from the dancefloor to meditative inner-worlds, transporting us into brand new realms.
Their new single, Ascent, is their first for the new label XXIM Records and takes its inspiration from the duality often found in the big events in our lives; moments which can simultaneously make us feel both loved and isolated, fearful but confident, proud and humbled. Ascent expresses the journey through these experiences in life, moving forward into the unknown, but with hope not fear. It also marks the debut of the band's latest member, drummer Jon Scott, who brings his own uniquely propulsive style to the Manchester based trio’s exhilarating music.
