Gaby Bonello Biography
Creativity is a force of nature that cannot be ignored. Once it’s in you, it will find a way of haunting you, until you can give it meaning and expression. Yet only with time can certain life experiences be distilled to become clear and better with age. Milton singer-songwriter, Gaby Bonello, is a shining example.
Gaby ’s musical journey of songwriting and truth telling, to her, seems to have only just begun, although her insightful perspective and experience gives her a quality that sets her apart as a singer-songwriter and compelling performer.
Born in Malta, Gaby emigrated to Australia with her family when she was eight years old. She studied Jazz Vocals at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and went on to sing with the gospel/jazz vocal group Jubilation, performing on main stages across the State, including Carols at the Domain (Sydney), MTV Awards (performing with Evermore), Parramatta Riverside Theatre supporting Idea of North, and a headline performance at the Manly Jazz Festival.
Her debut solo album Coming Home was recorded in 2016 at Church St Studios with producer Sean Carey (Thirsty Merc). Exploring themes of ‘home’, ‘belonging’ and ‘family’, Coming Home is an honouring of all that contributes to Gaby’s deep sense of connection and belonging.
Following the release of her debut album release, Gaby moved to Milton, South Coast NSW, where her musical influences have grown from jazz to folk infused with country roots. Her maturity gives depth to her storytelling, which can be as comforting as it is confronting.
Gaby's soon-to-be-released new single Giving Up the Fight has a distinctly rural feel about it showing vulnerability, as well as power, with a striking honesty. Oozing real-life relatability, this song will touch any listener.
