About this concert
Joel Zighel returns to the Bitter End for the World Premiere performance of his upcoming record, “Vintner’s Blues.” The founder of local wine shop Jones Street Wine, Zighel has developed a loyal following writing and performing songs about his experiences working and living in the neighborhood. His 2017 debut album, “Down On Jones Street,” chronicled his early years “hawking juice,” and often performing across the street at the storied songwriter haunt “Caffe Vivaldi.” Pandemic years brought much change, and now he returns with a new album of songs reflecting the joys and heartbreaks of those times. Working again with veteran producer and musician Craig Dreyer, “Vintner’s Blues” features top level players to create an eclectic sound mixing sassy brass, funky percussion, and warm background vocals to complement his character-driven vocals, often compared to artists like Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs and Randy Newman. The full-band performance will provide the soundtrack for an exciting fall evening in the Village, as Joel and band perform the entire record live, including the recently released singles “Be Cool, It’s L.A.,” “Look At You Now,” and premiering the title track “Vintner’s Blues.” Come join the neighborhood party for this unique musical event!
