Son Of Ugly are a 5 piece band from Brighton UK that specialise in genre-fluid, largely instrumental dramatic, cinematic music. With a list of influences as big as a telephone book, you never quite know what’s coming next with Son of ugly.
One minute they sound like a David Lynch-themed strip club, the next they sound like a missing episode of Randal & Hopkirk deceased, onto a sprawling epic that travels through 5 different genres of music, rounding off with something that sounds like the soundtrack to a 50's Monster B-movie.
That being said it is deftly handled with a sense of taste and consideration that serves the concepts, all the while delivered with a wry smile and a knowing sense of the absurdity of blending an Italian-themed waltz into a Latino surf car chase piece
