While his versatility spans R&B, Hip-Hop, Techno, and Reggae, his signature sound is rooted in House and Disco. From battling DJs in high school to shaping the music scene at Southern University, Wilhite has built a reputation for exceptional crowd control, deep musical knowledge, and an undefeated legacy within the DJ community. A key figure in Detroit’s music culture, Wilhite worked at the influential Buy Rite Music before opening his own record stores, The House of Music and Vibes New and Rare Music. He began producing and remixing in the 1980s and has worked alongside Detroit pioneers including Juan Atkins and Derrick May. In recent years, he has become closely associated with Marcellus Pittman, Kenny Dixon Jr., and Theo Parrish as part of the influential 3 Chairs collective. Michigan-born Rick Wade is a highly influential yet understated figure in Detroit house music. For nearly three decades, he has built a reputation for deeply hypnotic, groove-driven productions that blend minimalist arrangements with subtle touches of funk and soul. His prolific discography has made him a favorite among house heads and one of the genre’s most sought-after remixers. Wade is also the force behind the legendary Harmonie Park label, which has released music from Detroit peers including Mike Huckaby and Theo Parrish. Equally accomplished as a DJ, he is known for vinyl-driven sets built around deep, long-form grooves that have taken him across the US, Europe, and beyond.
