An EFG London Jazz Festival Concert. Through her luminous voice and soulful storytelling, acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Lizz Wright returns to the stage with the grace and honesty that have defined her remarkable 20-year career. Described by The New York Times as possessing “a smooth, dark alto” reminiscent of “barrel-aged bourbon or butter-soft leather”, Wright’s sound bridges generations and genres, uniting gospel, jazz, blues, and folk traditions into something deeply human and uniquely her own. Raised in Georgia, Wright’s musical roots trace back to the church where her father preached, and she led the choir – experiences that continue to shape her resonance and emotional depth. Over the years, she has released a string of acclaimed albums, including Salt, Dreaming Wide Awake, and Grace, earning her place among America’s great modern voices. With her rich tone, poetic lyricism, and a presence that feels both intimate and transcendent, Lizz Wright invites audiences to experience music as a moment of reflection, renewal, and shared joy. Duration: to be confirmed – we will update this page as soon as we have running times. Please do not call the Box Office as they do not have any further information than that currently on our website. Most events last 2 – 2½ hours, evening events generally finishing no later than 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9pm on Sundays.

Künstlerbiografie
Through an inimitable voice that The New York Times touts as, “a smooth, dark alto possessed of qualities you might associate with barrel-aged bourbon or butter-soft leather,” acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Lizz Wright sings with a soaring reflection of the cultural fabric of America. Wright is one of the great modern American singers with an illustrious 20-year career transcending social divides with her offer of love and deep sense of humanity.
At the age of 22, Wright first made a name for herself nationally as a vocalist with a touring concert tribute to Billie Holiday. At 23, she signed with Verve Records for the 2003 release of her debut album, Salt, which topped Billboard’s contemporary jazz charts. She went on to record for Universal Music Group and released the albums Dreaming Wide Awake (2005), The Orchard (2008), and Fellowship (2010). On Concord, Wright released Freedom & Surrender (2016) – featuring the single “Lean In,” which landed on President Obama’s Summer 2016 playlist – and Grace (2017).
Wright launched her own independent record company, Blues & Greens Records (LINK), with the June 2022 release of Holding Space, a brilliant live album (produced by Christian Ulbrich) capturing a Berlin, Germany concert in 2018. In 2024, Wright released her studio debut album, Shadow, produced by Chris Bruce and executive produced by Lizz Wright on Blues & Greens Records (with licensing/distribution through Lightyear Entertainment/Virgin Music). Wright pens five originals as she celebrates the intimacy of romantic love, loss, community, and healing.

Was die Fans sagen
From the moment Lizz Wright walked onto the stage, it was clear that this was going to be a memorable performance. She was eloquent yet gracious, carrying herself with a confidence and command that immediately drew the audience in.
Her performance of “Freedom” was especially powerful. The strength of the song was matched by the way she delivered every word, holding the audience’s attention from beginning to end. You could feel the meaning behind what she was singing, and her command of the stage made the performance even more compelling.
The music complemented every note she sang, creating a powerful balance between the band and her voice. The audience’s applause as she took the stage and again as she left said so much about the impact of her performance.
It was an engaging, moving evening of live music and a performance that stayed with me long after the concert ended.
