I am Oak Biografie
I am Oak is a Dutch indie-folk band founded by singer-songwriter Thijs Kuijken. The band was formed in 2008 and has since carved out a distinctive place in the Dutch music scene. With introspective lyrics, folky guitars, and dreamy melodies, they have built a loyal fanbase and received numerous accolades from critics at home and abroad.
Their debut album, ‘On Claws’, released in 2010, marked the beginning of a successful career for I am Oak. Since then, they have been active: with a collection of 5 albums and 5 EPs, 500 shows in 17 countries, a 3voor12 Award, and over 50 million streams on Spotify.
The band continues to grow and evolve, winning new listeners and admirers time and again with their timeless and moving music. Over the years, their style has evolved to be broader and sometimes even harder, but they have never lost sight of what makes I am Oak unique: introspective folk with the guitar at its center.
