About this concert
Step into a world of transcendental musical fusion with Jaubi and Tara Lily Hailing from Lahore, Pakistan, Jaubi are an instrumental outfit who defy genre boundaries with their fluid and dynamic sound. The band – made up of Ali Riaz Baqar (guitar and composer), Zohaib Hassan Khan (sarangi) and Kashif Ali Dhani (tablas and percussion) – embody the spirit of “whatever/whoever” crafting sounds that resonate deeply and universally. Jaubi perform alongside Tara Lily, a South-London, British Bengali musician whose eclectic style stitches together R&B, jazz, electronic, and traditional sounds – creating something entirely her own . The rising star – who doubles as a classically trained jazz musician – has expanded on her sound recently, working with collaborators like Theo Croker and King Krule. Jaubi unveil their highly anticipated sophomore album A Sound Heart in summer 2024 via their own imprint, Riaz Records. Inspired by a verse from the Holy Qur'an (26:89), A Sound Heart explores the concept of a spiritually healthy and content heart, rooted in love and sincerity. Join Jaubi on their incredible musical journey, where meditative ragas blend seamlessly with Herbie Hancock-esque motifs, contemporary melodies intertwine with the intricate sounds of the sarangi, and the earthy rhythms of the tabla create a rich tapestry of sound. This performance, presented in collaboration with Dialled In, celebrates the depths of South Asian artistry.
