About Neil Innes
Neil has been reported in several articles on the internet to be the best comedic/satirical music writer and performer in at least the last 50 years. But not only is Neil Innes a comedy/parody musician, he has demonstrated a unparalleled talent for writing different styles of music while morphing his voice to fit the vocals. He also has the wonderful ability to interpret children's stories for television along with accompanying music. He has even written a score to the movie "Erik the Viking." He also has written many beautiful songs which are not attached to any undertaking except his own expression.
Neil Innes first gained recognition because of his work with The Bonzo Dog Band during the mid to late Sixties (he wrote their biggest hit, The Urban Spaceman).
Innes went on to collaborate with members of Monty Python and released several solo albums in the Seventies. In 1978, Innes and Eric Idle of Python created a Beatles spoof band, The Rutles, and filmed a mockumentary of the same name. Innes then became the star of a BBC television series, The Innes Book of Records which ran from 1979 to 1981.
Innes now tours England and the United States regularly and continues to record. His official website, egowarriors.com, is currently under construction. Additional information can be found at myspace.com/egowarriors or the unofficial fansite neilinnes.org. Also Neil In Us - The Neil Innes Unofficial Fans' Page and The Innes Book of Memories.
