About this concert
Growing up in the heart of Edinburgh, McLaughlin found inspiration from the energy of his surroundings. From the bustling streets of Leith to the serene landscapes of the Highlands, his music reflects a deep connection to both urban grit and natural beauty. "My songs have always had a strong sense of place," says McLaughlin. "Leith and the Highlands shaped my perspective on life and art in profound ways."
McLaughlin began writing songs in secret at an early age. After honing his craft performing with his father and brother on the folk circuit, local solo performances followed. He made the move to Glasgow, where he collaborated with Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit on his debut album, "Feel The Ground You Walk Upon". Released in 2022, the album garnered widespread acclaim and set the stage for McLaughlin's rise.
"Folk edged Paolo Nutini for a fresher generation… masterful songwriting to take you floating away on a cloud," raves the BBC’s Phoebe IH.
He is set to release his highly anticipated second album, "A Hope In Fear." on August 2nd, making this King Tuts performance a special moment for the songwriter. McLaughlin's latest offering promises to captivate audiences with its dynamic blend of introspective lyricism and infectious melodies.
