About this concert
R&B-stjärnan, sångaren och låtskrivaren Leela James från Los Angeles slog igenom 2005 med sitt debutalbum ”A Change Is Gonna Come”. Det fick snabbt stor uppmärksamhet och Leela fick en nominering till Soul Train Award för bästa R&B Soul Artist och en NAACP Award-nominering för enastående ny artist. Ms. James har sedan dess spelat in och släppt sju album, levererat sju topp 20 R&B Radio-singlar, inklusive två låtar som nådde nummer ett på Billboard-listorna (!) Hennes singel ”Complicated” toppade listorna sommaren 2021 under tre på varandra följande veckor. Leela vann också The Soul Train Certified Award 2014 och fick ytterligare en NAACP-nominering för bästa R&B-samarbete 2021. Hennes emotionella ballad ”Fall For You” är nu en klassiker och certifierades guld i oktober 2022, med över 500 000 sålda enheter. Leela är känd för sina själfulla, kraftfulla framträdanden och har delat scen med en rad artister från den legendariska James Brown, Robert Randolph och The Isley Brothers till Maxwell och Fantasia.

Leela James Biography
Leela James is a Los Angeles native and soul singer who cites James Brown, Roberta Flack, and Gladys Knight, among others, as influences. Her deep, rich and gritty vocals easily draw comparisons to Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight.
Her debut album was released on June 21, 2005, entitled A Change Is Gonna Come. The album is a soul music record incorporating the styles of 1960s and 1970s American soul singers, with a mixture of funk, R&B and gospel influences. The first single from the album, entitled "Music," laments what Leela James sees as the decline of hip hop and soul music and asks for a return to the artistry of musicians of earlier decades. Leela co-wrote most of the tracks on her debut album, with two notable exceptions being her cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak," and the classic song by Sam Cooke for which the album is named.
