Dan Elbert Biography
With roots on two continents, Dan Elbert combines both eastern and western influences
in his music. After many years spent living, playing, and teaching in Asia, today he is
based in Boston, where he is working to bring together many different sounds and styles.
In nearly 20 years of playing, Dan has been fortunate to perform all over the world,
including recent tours in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Panama, and Costa Rica. Dan has
shared the stage with many great artists, including Danilo Perez, Kenny Werner, Ralph
Thomas (Sun Ra Arkestra, Quincy Jones), Benjamin Koen (David Murray, Cecil Taylor),
Uriel Barthelemi, Opor Red, R&B singer Allen Stone, and singer-songwriter Amanda
Palmer.
In 2019, Dan was fortunate to receive a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s at the
prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) in Boston. While he continues to
perform and teach, both in the US and abroad, Dan is currently focused on his studies
at the BGJI, where he works under the direction of a number of world-class players
including Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, and Joe Lovano.
