Alexis Morrast Biography

22-year-old phenom Alexis Morrast is a voice for this millennium. With her
emotionally satisfying and age-defying approach to jazz, R&B, gospel and neo soul,
she has a sound that is fresh, exciting, and all her own.
This Newark, NJ native began singing in church at the age of three, leading to her
first solo in the adult choir at seven. Since then, Alexis has gone on to perform on
many stages including the U.S. OPEN, the Central Jersey Jazz Festivals, the Rutgers
University Garden Summer Solstice Jazz & Wine, the South Jazz Kitchen,
Warmdaddy's in Philly, the New Jersey Preforming Arts Center, Dizzy's Coca-Cola
Club, and the world-renowned APOLLO THEATRE emerging as a two-time Amateur
Night Winner and later returning as their Special Guest during Harlem Week
Festival. In February 2017 she was back on the APOLLO stage and named the
winner of the nationally televised FOXTV “ShowTime at the Apollo” hosted by Steve
Harvey.
Alexis has also been seen and heard on XM Real Jazz Radio and WBGO Jazz88, at The
Kennedy Center, the Barclays Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall for the Paul
McCartney tribute abroad, as well as in Europe and South Africa. She’s worked with
greats including Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Freddy Cole, Roberta Flack,
Greg Phillinganes, Johnathan Butler, Christian McBride, Cynthia Erivo, and Macy
Gray among many others.She has been featured and interviewed in several articles from The Wall Street
Journal, LA Times, Hot House Jazz, and Forbes Magazine, to the front pages of
international newspapers. She played young Ella in the documentary Ella Fitzgerald
Just One of Those Things, which aired on Netflix and has also starred in the PBS
docuseries “The Gospel Train.” When she’s not performing, Alexis continues to
study her craft at the prestigious Berklee School of Music for she believes there’s
“Life in Every Note!”
