BadWeather Biography
As a Columbia, South Carolina musician playing in different bands over the years, Grady Rogers began a drawn out process of writing the earliest songs that would eventually become the Badweather project. While playing bass in another Indie band, Dempsey, he found the accompaniment of guitarist, Christian Sewesky in early 2016 to assist with playing the acoustic music. Soon after childhood friend, Micah Hall began playing bass and playing a major role in supporting song writing. The percussion position was filled with temporary drummers at first; the first person to help with this role on stage and in the studio was ex-drummer for NeedToBreathe, Joe Stillwell. Grady and Micah made the connection to Joe through playing in a church downtown.
In the process of playing shows, recording, and writing music, Grady relocated to Charleston, SC for personal reasons. The trio continued as the frontman would routinely travel back and forth to and from the capital city.
In the summer of 2017, Badweather released the EP, "Confide" with the help of Joe. After appearing in the annual Archer Avenue Showcase to debut the record, Joe decided his work was done and he moved on to other projects. Christian then recruited a fellow music instructor, Will Ashley, for live performances. After several shows with Will, the band offered him the permanent position and he accepted, finally locking down a complete band of full-time members.
As traveling to practice and write music became too troublesome to manage, it became obvious that the logical step for the project would be to fully relocate to Charleston. By June of 2018, the Columbia members cordially obliged and resigned. Currently Badweather is once again Grady Rogers' solo project that is collaborating with musicians from the community to write, record, and perform, both full band and acoustic.
There are plans to release another EP in late 2018, but an official date has not been set.
