Gustavo (Gus) D’Arthenay, better known as Input, is a Denver-based hip-hop artist. His unique blend of rhythm-based music and direct lyrics – as well as his commitment to his fans – has made him one of Denver’s most popular rappers and has helped him gain a devout following with listeners around the world. First and foremost, Input is a music fan. His appreciation and passion for rap and hip-hop serve as the motivation behind his music. He is known for his ability to pair unique beats with intricate, personal lyrics. Input’s goal is simple: to create music that people, as a whole, can appreciate and relate to – straightforward yet multilayered music that resonates with listeners. Since his first album, Input has demonstrated the work ethic and artistic drive that has made him such a highly regarded artist. His release, Elusive Candor, dropped in 2006 and marked an evolutionary shift into a new wave of hip-hop. In 2007, Input released A Radio With Guts, which he followed up with Pictureface in 2008. The album Left for Dead, Input’s second collaboration with producer Broken, dropped in 2010. He has also released Unreleased & Unrelenting and Lessons Learned as free downloads. That same artistic drive has compelled Input to take on the challenge of creating two new albums. Never Heard of Ya and Bombs Over Everything not only represent a pivotal point in Input’s career, they each represent a very different sound. Never Heard of Ya is a complete departure from its predecessor. The dark, ominous sound and deliberate delivery in Left For Dead have made way for a more positive feel that speaks directly to the “happy go lucky” listener and dive bar regulars. Bombs Over Everything, a collaboration with renowned Atlanta producer SupaHotBeats, is also a testament to change. The partnership pushed Input to advance his style and open up to create a grimmer, rawer vocal delivery.
