About this concert
Pianist/composer Darrell Grant and vocalist Marilyn Keller have been performing together since their friendship started at a 1998 concert commemorating 1920’s "Jazz Age in Paris." In the two decades since, Keller’s powerful alto and Grant’s jazz piano have traveled together from New Orleans to New York City to Vladivostok, Russia and in projects dating from Grant’s late-90’s People Music Project and a highly-regarded Duke Ellington tribute at the Mount Hood Jazz Festival to many more recent collaborations. In celebration of the anniversary of their inaugural engagement, this performance will feature Grant and Keller performing repertoire from throughout their 20+ year friendship. The program will include intimate versions of selections from Grant’s celebrated works Step By Step: The Ruby Bridges Suite and The Territory as well as jazz standards and originals they have collaborated on over the years.
