Über The Alex Hamilton Band
:: I'd like to announce that I'll now be using my middle name for music and any other work related purposes from now on. Aside from the odd racing driver joke, the name Lewis Hamilton has actually become a logistical nightmare as far as monetising and google search optimization goes. Given the pandemic, i feel now is as good a time as any to rebrand. For music, gigs & live streaming i'll be using my middle name, Alexander shortened to Alex. The Lewis Hamilton Band will become The Alex Hamilton Band and my personal Facebook name will be changed next month. There will be a brief period while we alter titles, websites and links but it should be a relatively quick change. If you want to get a few racing driver jokes in, now is the time to do it 😉
The Alex Hamilton Band performs mostly original Blues/Rock/Americana music, combining melodic and powerful vocals with a rock solid rhythm section and virtuoso heart-felt lead guitar. One of the UK’s hardest working bands, this family powered trio was formed in 2010 and have since been booked for over 700 shows from Shetland to Slovenia, and have appeared at most of the UK’s blues festivals, including Main Stage performances at Newark, Hebden Bridge and Maryport. Their reputation has quickly spread across Europe, with three successful tours of Poland and regular trips to Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium and Holland.
-
Alex's debut album Gambling Machine (under Lewis Hamilton) was released when he was just 17, and won the Scottish New Music Award for Scottish Jazz/Blues album of the year for 2012. Candlelight & Sympathy from 2nd album Empty Roads features on the soundtrack of the feature film Scar Tissue, and the title track used by the BBC as theme music for the TV series ‘The Mart’. His third album Ghost Train has had airplay and a special mention from ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris on BBC R2. His 4th studio album Shipwrecked was chosen as an ‘Album of the Month’ by the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA) and has been played by Paul Jones, also on BBC R2. Lewis’s new solo EP ‘Cellar Door’ will be launched in October 2017. Now with two regular top session drummers to choose from, the band continues to go from strength to strength.

“This fourth studio album confirms Lewis Hamilton’s status as one of the most innovative and versatile young blues artists in the UK. The tempo is maintained with the aptly titled ‘Iceberg Blues’ given Hamilton’s titanic vocal performance and screaming guitar work”
David Scott (Blues in Britain)
-
“’Down to the River’ and other self-penned titles go down to applause and with each passing song cementing the bands capabilities and affirming their peer status to the elite rhythm and blues realm. I surely was not the only one in the room who became one of their newest fans.”
Andy (Bearded Radio)
-
“Lewis Hamilton on Shipwrecked has shown what a talent he is growing into and his name should be on many people’s lips throughout 2016 and beyond”
Liz Aiken (Bluesdoodles)

Ghost Train Press:
-
" A very surprising and varied CD which I value very highly. With this Lewis has delivered a professional CD that deserves much attention"
Andre Wittebroek (Blus Magazine)
-
" Ghost Train is a top album ... already in my personal top ten this year.""
Philip Vehaege (Keys and Chords)
-
" Ghost Train is a very strong and varied album that provides some good promotion ..."
Walter Vanheuckelom (Rootstime.BE)
-
" Lewis Hamilton seems to be a flawless offspring of the North American roots of the blues."
Steve Brown (Rocktimes.DE)
-
" While he has shown that he can hold his own with any guitarist on the scene, he is so much more. His work is soulful, evoking images in the mind of the listener that one would expect from a man twice his age."
Bill Wilson (Reflections in Blue)
-
" There are traces in his style of Henrik Freischlader – always looking for a fresh way of presenting the music and not afraid of taking a new direction ‘Ghost Train’ is an always interesting disc ... "
John Hurd (3songsbonn.com)
-
" This is heartfelt soulful music, just as honest as the day is long in June, and when music has that much integrity, it just has to be good."
Jon Seymour (Firebrand Magazine)
-
" The music is solid - the trio rocks, sometimes gets funky … Definitely recommended for fans of the genre."
Nathan Nörgel (Wasser-Prawda Magazine)
-
" Hot Blooded Caledonian Blues - could any music fan refuse? "
