Weather was a bit muggy and bugs were many. It would be nice if Pinewood could arrange some of their BIG fans to sweep over the audience to keep the air moving. That said, it was an outstanding night and Michael McDonald and The Doobie Brothers did not disappoint. They were on target every song. There were some songs I had hoped they would play that they didn't but the playlist was excellent. Pinewood Bowl does an excellent job of getting people in and out. It is Nebraska's Red Rocks!

A Doobies Fan since the 70s and a huge fan of Mike I simply was thrilled by the concert. Could have seen/hear them all night long instead of the Eagles, because their (the Doobies) performance was much more “live”, leaving musical goosebumps in my veins.

The concert last night was an absolute delight! The venue was fantastic, offering a perfect blend of comfort and ambiance. There were some great restaurant choices. The weather was beautiful, adding to the overall experience. The crowd was friendly and enthusiastic, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The band did a fantastic job, delivering an unforgettable performance. The sound quality was excellent, perfectly balanced and not too loud, allowing everyone to enjoy the music without any discomfort. Overall, it was a wonderful evening filled with great music, good food, and a fantastic crowd. Highly recommended!

The concert was awesome! The thrill of a lifetime for my daughter and me to see Michael McDonald with the Doobie Brothers in person -- they all sounded fantastic. Michael's voice blew us away! And seeing Steve Winwood as opening act was wonderful. It brought so many memories of my college years. What an incredible evening!

Always wanted to see Steve Winwood; he was great! Doobie Brothers sound was different; my husband is a musician and an arranger and said he couldn't hear the bass line. That was it; I couldn't hear the bass player. My husband could explain things in more detail.

It was my first VIP experience. The tour was fantastic, the sound check was phenomenal. The concert was amazing! Mr. McDonald struggled a bit but it didn't cause any issues with the crowd. I will only go VIP when I go to a concert again! I absolutely LOVED the experience! Pat, Tom andJohn brought the crowd to their feet!! A once In a lifetime experience for me I will never forget! Wow!!!

Loved it that they started on time, no intermission . Everything ran smoothly.. Michael was fantastic! His performance was top notch! The Doobies played and sounded great. Only downside was that Tom Johnston missing due to health !

Michael McDonald, Pat Simmons, John McFee, and the rest of the Doobie Brothers 50th Anniversary sounded incredible. Michael's voice live is so rich and soulful. His piano playing is bluesy and he took us to church. Mark Russo on sax on the perfect touch. The Doobies wrote and produced true music that stands the test of time. When I tell you this was probably one of the best concerts I've seen in decades, THIS was it. The Doobie Brothers are in their 70's and rocked this concert like it WAS back in the 70's. The venue was packed with people and the music was LEGENDARY!! I really enjoyed the old classics, as well as, the new songs. What band do you know at their age is STILL. Making new music and touring the country? I'll tell you who, THE DOOBIE BROTHERS!!!! I just love Michael McDonald. He was a great addition to the group back in the day. His soulful voice makes my heart pound. He can sing the alphabet for all I care, and I will listen. The harmony this group has, NOONE else can match. Just beautiful ❤️❤️❤️ For me, this concert was EPIC!!!

Michael works so hard on the stage—a real professional! He really “brought it” to Minnesota last night. It was a real treat to see him live and, based on the smiling faces and dancing in the seats I saw around me, others felt the same way. Looking forward to seeing him perform live again soon!

The show was amazing, felt like we were right back in the 70s. The jamming and solos didn’t feel canned or pre-planned (altho I’m sure they partially were!). They were in TOP form. Regarding the video screens, we were close enough to see everything but that reviewer is correct, I was surprised too at how long it took the “directors” to put the camera on who was soloing. Cameras were all over the place. They def should tighten that up!

The entire band’s energy was simply amazing! My hat is off to all of them for giving such a show, as it can’t be easy doing so many shows almost back to back. We weren’t close enough to see the band members without the help of the big screens. I give the camera operators a “C” - too many times when there was a non-guitar solo, the camera crew lagged so far behind. However, we were given two solid hours of non-stop hits. Enjoyed hearing the 3 songs they featured from their latest album. Only song missing (in my book) was “Doctor”, but can’t fault them for that. So very glad we were finally able to see this 50th anniversary tour.

Doobie Brothers: 7/17/22 “I took it to the streets rocking down the highway —destination Atlanta, less than 15 hours after returning home from a Garth Brooks show in Charlotte. Tonite, the Doobies, my fourth time seeing my number 4 all-time fave band. It was also my 2nd time seeing them with Michael McDonald, the first going back to July of ’81, 41 years ago almost to the exact day! I’ve also seen Michael solo twice in between. Billed as ‘The 50th Anniversary Tour’ the event was on its 4th reschedule, tickets originally having been sold back in December of 2019. It was a beautiful evening for a show, clouds and sun 87° at showtime with a light breeze carrying occasional whiffs of a sweet organic variety drifting by from the lawn seats. Upon being seated dead center under the amphitheater pavilion, the view of the stage disclosed a rather simple set up consisting of 4 large light boxes illuminated as bricked up windows in rainbow color with 5 rows of smaller boxes in between and on either side. The large boxes doubled as video screens displaying classic album artwork during the performance. There was a black and gold classic logo with the wording ‘50th Anniversary Tour’ on the drum kit. A pedal steel for ’South City Midnight Lady’ and Michael’s keys were both positioned stage left. I honestly expected something a bit more elaborate however the Doobies are traditional old school rock ’n roll. The show opened with the trifecta of guitarists forefront (Simmons & Johnston both 73, and McFee 71), along with McDonald 70— the 4 Doobies playing the intro to ’Nobody’. Four touring musicians following suit took their places on stage. Thus began a 2 hour 10 minute/24 song set including songs stretching their entire recording career 1971-2021. Simmon’s commenting, ‘This is our 50th-ish anniversary, we skipped it and came back, now it’s 52 years, we’re just glad to be here Atlanta.’ Johnston adding, ‘It took us a while to get here but we’re back and we’re here to talk about it.’ What made this show special to me was a setlist that included songs the band would not typically perform without Michael: ‘Here To Love You’, ‘You Belong To Me, ‘It Keeps You Runnin’, ‘Real Love’, and ‘Minute By Minute’. However the songs that showcased their exquisite harmonies mid-concert were both from the album ‘Captain And Me’, ‘South City Midnight Lady’ and “Clear As The Driven Snow’ performed in tandem. Did I mention musicianship? In addition to guitar and pedal steel, McFee also played dobro, harmonica, and fiddle. Marc Russo the touring saxophonist (Tower Of Power plus an impressive studio resume) was granted free-range of the stage strolling from side to side and energizing the crowd. McDonald’s uniquely-soulful vocals were still strong, often singing slightly off tempo but in clear control, establishing his own pace and direction. In retrospect, this most likely due to years of headlining solo performances. There was a definitive R&B feel about them to experience Live tonight that one could not get from needle to vinyl alone. There was a six minute rendering of ‘Takin’ It To The Streets’ that included a jazzy keyboard and sax intro beginning with ‘Amazing Grace’ and evolving into somewhat of a New Orleans funeral style. Three songs from their current release were mixed into the set which a number of folks took as their cue to hit a restroom or grab another beverage. I felt they were done very well and worth the consideration. Johnston reasoning with the fans, ‘If we don’t play ‘em you’re not going to know about them right?’ It took an hour and a half to get the crowd off their feet and ‘Jesus Is Just Alright’ was the one that did it. Nobody sat back down thereafter! The show closed with another trifecta, this time of songs for the encore, ‘Black Water’, ’Streets’, and ‘Listen To The Music’. One slight variation being ‘Georgia moon won’t you keep on shinin’, Atlanta moon won’t you keep on shinin’ on me!’ The now fully invigorated crowd (and I think even the band) were left wondering if there was just one more song they could work into the evening prior to the house lights coming up. A personal note, last time I saw the band in 2019 they were playing a much smaller venue of 2,000, today it was 12,000. Their game has majorly stepped up, I feel the staging visuals could use an upgrade worthy of a big production. Finally, I didn’t sense a lot of chemistry between the other members and Michael, it could just well be that he was isolated from the frontmen positioned behind the keys. Who knows what will happen with the band, will Michael stay? Amazingly he had only been a member a mere 7 years of the band’s history (’77-’82). One thing’s for sure, in the now, the Doobies are still very much ‘fired-up’ and it’s highly unlikely they’ll be hanging their instruments up any time in the near future!” by DAve (Concert #678)

Great concert. Loved both entertainers. Back up singers were outstanding. Both bands and musicians were on point. Loved the ambience created by the lighting and stage crew. We celebrated my sister’s birthday with a large group of 18. Everyone had a blast!

Loved every second of strolling down memory lane. Michael’s voice is unbelievable. Lead guitarist was awesome as well as the saxophone player and the new guy from Louisiana. Most endearing moment was when Michael introduced his wife!! Amy has been singing with the band for over thirty years!!!

From start to encore... the energy, the beat & the vocals were great. Nonstop music with comments from Michael made the concert fly by. The audience was up on their feet clapping with the music and singing the familiar words. Everyone enjoyed this show!

He’s a national treasure! Growing up in the 70s and 80s, he was ubiquitous and unmistakable. As much soul in his voice as anyone, and I finally got to see him. He didn’t disappoint! Also my first time at the Capitol Theater. It’s a hidden gem. The balcony seats are a well kept secret.

Michael was stellar as alway! I met him backstage, inquired if he would be singing a certain song and he responded...” “I think I can put that in for you.” Then, during the show, he prefaced my requested song by mentioning he doesn’t do this much, but “a fan requested I sing this tonight, so here it is..” Now that’s making your fans feel appreciated!!
