Über Deadnote
The Euclids (formerly Deadnote) is an American rock & roll band based out of Nashville,TN. The Euclids consist of Cody Fedeler on lead guitar, Reid Clagett on bass, Greg Oliveras on drums, and Will Bartz on guitar/vocals. The group formed in 2007 when Fedeler was seeking out members to form a band in which he would be playing drums. He received a call from Bartz after Bartz had seen an ad at a local pawn shop. The two met and a few practices ensued before Bartz discovered that Fedeler also played guitar. Bartz proposed that Fedeler come play guitar with him and a few friends (Clagett & former drummer A.J. Wilder) just for fun. W.Bartz, Clagett, and Wilder had all gone to school together and had just finished up a recording project for Bartz’ father. They continued playing leisurely until inviting Fedeler to a practice. The four immediately hit it off. They continued playing together and performing casually at local events. It wasn’t until 2010 that they started getting serious about the band. During the summer of 2010 Bartz was on a study abroad trip leaving the group without a singer/guitarist for a month. In order to perform during that month, the band decided to ask Bartz’ sister Marena to join. Seeing that the band was in a pinch M.Bartz agreed to help out and ended up staying with the band after W.Bartz’ return. The three years after formation was a very important part of the bands history. As the members matured their taste in music did as well, not to mention their skill level. It was at this time when Wilder discovered that he had relative in San Antonio that owned and operated a recording studio. This would be the first time the five recorded together. After all arrangements were made, the group travelled to San Antonio to spend a week in the studio. They released Redhead in the fall of 2011 and the album proved to be very useful, helping them to book shows and spend the next two years playing around Iowa. Not content with with where they were, the band wanted to take the next step in their careers. In 2013 while trying to find management they unintentionally came in contact with producer and former Kansas lead singer John Elefante. Elefante expressed interest in working with the band and they decided to take Elefante’s offer and travel to Nashville to record an EP. Work on the EP started in March of 2013 and finished up in June leaving the band with a total of 10 trips to Nashville. It was during this time that they fell in love with Nashville and started entertaining the idea of moving. The EP was released in August of 2013 and the group enjoyed the next year in the Central Iowa area performing at clubs and events including Maximum Ames Music Festival. During this time there was a lot of discussion about their name (Deadnote). It wasn’t a name that anyone particularly liked, it just happened to come about in the absence of anything else and the group was finding that it was actually hurting their chances of bookings as it was not a name that represented the sound of the band. After much discussion the group came up with a new name; The Euclids, coming from the name of a street in Des Moines just a few blocks away from W.Bartz’ apartment. The other big decision to make at this time was the idea of relocating to Nashville. Eventually it was decided that if they wanted to take the next step in their careers they needed to leave home. The group trickled into Nashville one by one after W.Bartz moving first in June of 2014 except for M.Bartz who stayed in Iowa to finish school thus ending her involvement with the band. Since then the group has been working hard on honing in their craft, writing new music, developing a new music video, and recording a new EP with plans to record a full length album within the next year. The Euclids are an American musical group currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. The group’s musical style is based in blues and classic rock & roll.
