Koyi K Utho
THE STORY SO FAR
Koyi K Utho are a cold wave band (industrial metal / cyber core) formed in Bogota, Colombia during 1999. Early in 2004 they released their first album titled Mechanical Human Prototype, which was selected by the local edition of Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the top 50 CDS released in 2004, besides giving them 4 out of 5 stars.
By 2005 they became part of EMI Music and they released a special edition of this album which contain 16 songs, including their superb cover of Depeche Mode song Personal Jesus, four songs recorded live in 2004 as well as a multimedia DVD. The band already has three videos (Personal Jesus, Freak man and Demential State) currently playing in MTV Latin America, Much Music (Bogota), Canal + 23 (Panama), Puma TV (Venezuela) and Underground Video Television (www.uvtv.info). The band played five times in Rock al Parque, (the biggest free rock festival in South America)
In 2004, and the 10th year anniversary of Rock al Parque festival, Koyi K Utho were selected to close one of the days of the festival in front of an appreciative audience of 60,000. They had the same privilege on 2006 when they closed the first day of the festival, before Fear Factory, in front of almost 80,000. This crowd gave them the Shock Award as Best Metal Band 2004 given by the readers of Shock Magazine as well as the Much Music Award for "Best Nu Metal Video 2005". By 2006 they were invited to perform at the prestigious Venezuelan rock festival "Festival Nuevas Bandas" held in Caracas in front of 6.000 people, being the closing act of the whole event.
Koyi K Utho has performed alongside SlipKnot (USA), Fear Factory (USA), ANIMAL (Argentina), Cradle of Filth (UK), Timmy O Tool (Argentina), Muscaria (Ecuador), Candy66 (Venezuela), Carajo (Argentina), Resorte (Mexico), Eminence (Brasil), Catupecu Machu (Argentina), Molotov (México), Robi Draco Rosa (Puerto Rico), Los Mentas (Venezuela), Chaos Avatar (Venezuela) y Ely Guerra (México); and from Colombia: 1280 Almas, Ultrageno, Sexy Death, Supervelcro, Superlitio, Hijos de la Crida, IRA, Odio a Botero, Raiz, Pornomotora, and No Silence, among many others.
